Packing

What to pack for a surf-pool session

Use the venue’s requirements as your starting point and keep the rest simple.

Confirm the equipment rules

Ask what board, fins, leash or protective equipment are permitted or required and whether rental is included. Requirements can vary by venue and session. Do not assume equipment used in the ocean is automatically suitable for a particular pool.

Keep dry clothing separate

Pack a towel and a dry layer for the time before and after the session. Check changing and storage facilities before arrival. A small bag for wet items helps when the rest of the day involves public transport or a city visit.

Bring the useful booking information

Save your confirmation, arrival instructions and the contact route for delays. Check any identification or check-in requirements directly with the operator. Keep important details available offline so poor reception does not make arrival harder.

Leave unnecessary extras behind

Ask about filming rules and storage before bringing a camera or valuables. Give the briefing your attention and leave space in the day for changing and reflection. A notebook or a short phone note afterwards can be more useful for progress than trying to record every ride.
